Summer on the moor is our favourite time of year at Ghyll House, and June and July are when the campsite really comes into its own. The moor turns a deeper green, the evenings stay light until well past nine, and on a clear day you can see for what feels like forever across Wharfedale.

What summer on the moor is like
The farm is busy too. The lambs born in spring are growing fast, the free-range goats are making full use of the longer days, and the pigs are doing very well for themselves. It’s a good time to visit if you want the full farm camping experience in Yorkshire, because there’s always something happening.
We’ve also added teepees this season for anyone who wants to experience the campsite without bringing their own tent. They’re a proper glamping option — cosy, well-kitted out, and with those panoramic views over Wharfedale that make Ghyll House what it is. If you’ve been thinking about trying camping but aren’t sure about the sleeping-on-the-floor part, a teepee might be exactly what you need.
Summer evenings up here are something special. The light goes golden over the moor, it’s quiet enough to hear the sheep, and the night sky — away from city light pollution — is properly dark and full of stars. We’ve had guests sit outside until midnight just watching it.
Bookings for summer fill up faster than any other time of year, so if you’re thinking about a stay, it’s worth getting in touch sooner rather than later. We’d love to welcome you.
